Taking The Whole Armor of God (Part 2)

Ephesians  6 : 12-18   (KJV)

12  For we wrestle, not against flesh and blood; but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13  Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15  And your feet shod with the gospel of peace;

16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

     The next piece of armor in order is the breastplate of righteousness. Again here, Why would the breastplate be of righteousness? The breastplate protects the chest and torso area. This is where our core strength, fortitude and stamina reside. In more esoteric terms; our character, endurance of adversity, or tenacity.

     It is important that we face the worst life has to throw at us with righteousness. that we may finish strong in the end.

     Our own righteousness, however, is not enough. As stated in Isiah 64:6 our own righteousness is as filthy rags. And filthy rags do not a breastplate make. We must have something much stronger. That is why Jesus becomes our righteousness by His grace.

    With the power of His righteousness we can stand and endure against the enemy by Christ Jesus.
